In the manual printing process, what is glossy glue and matte glue?

Glossy and matte glues, also known as glossy and matte films, involve coating a plastic film with specific glue, then bonding it to paper through heat and pressure. The result is a glossy or matte film on the paper. These films make the paper smoother, thicker, and harder, enhancing both quality and appearance. Matte film feels less smooth and is non-reflective, giving a darker, more sophisticated look, while glossy film is shinier but can appear tacky. Matte film is slightly more expensive. Over time, customer preference has shifted from glossy to matte due to its high-end appearance. These films are typically used for covers rather than inner pages, as they increase the cost of each product manual by about 2 cents. They are commonly applied in high-end products like picture albums and catalogs, with usage depending on the customer's desire for a more upscale look.

Glossy glue and matte glue are also commonly known as glossy and matte films. Its principle is to coat a special plastic film with a specific glue and then heat and press it to bond it with the paper. The final product is a glossy film or a matte film. Now that we know the principle, let’s talk about it. Under what circumstances are they used when printing instructions, what are their differences, and what are their effects?

Let’s talk about their effects first. Because there is an extra layer of plastic film on the paper that has passed the gloss film and the matt film, it feels smoother, thicker, and harder than the paper that has not been filmed, and it is not easy to tear. Therefore, both in terms of quality and appearance, it is much higher-end than others. The way to identify it is to tear a small opening in the paper, and there will be a layer of film on top of the film.

So what's the difference between them?

Products with a matte film feel slightly less smooth to the touch, and the surface will not be reflective and shiny, making it appear darker. However, matte glue is slightly more expensive than gloss glue.

Based on our past experience, we found that many customers requested glossy film a long time ago, but gradually everyone felt that it was too bright and tacky, so now there are relatively more people who have matte film, and everyone feels that matte film looks deep and high-end. Some.

Next, let’s talk about the common situations under which it is used.

Since the printed paper is thick and hard, it is definitely not suitable for inner pages, so it is generally used for covers, and is rarely used for ordinary product manuals. Generally, they are relatively high-end and only used by those with higher customer requirements. Because using this process will increase the cost of each product manual by about 2 cents. The specific price is related to factors such as the printing quantity and whether it is single-sided or double-sided. The most commonly used products are color printed products such as picture albums and product catalogs. Of course, black and white are used a lot. Whether to use it or not depends on the customer's own positioning. If you want to look more upscale, go for it.
